SAGRADA FAMILIA
Barcelona - Gaudi 's Sagrada Familia
SAGRADA FAMILIA - ANTONI GAUDI

Sagrada Familia is the most known Barcelona's landmark. It is located in "eixample" area and has a homonym metro station nearby.
A majestic church which left unfinished when Gaudi died in 1926.
Unfortunatelly DURING THE LAST 80 YEARS and for some more yet to come,
Sagrada Famillia is UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
In case you insist on visiting this great monument
(before 2030-the year that is estimated
that the project will complete) you should be prepared
for a long queue in the entrance area, and try not to get dissappointed
of the empty interior due to the reconstruction that take place.
20 euros(!!!) fare entry is required without any serious information about. The exterior is truly outstanding, so you must visit this touristic attraction and have a cup of coffee
in one of the closest coffee-places of this area....

BATTLO
Barcelona - Antoni Gaudi 's Casa Battlo

Gaudi Casa Batllo - ANTONI GAUDI

Gaudi Casa Batllo is a major Barcelona's tourist attraction, located at Passeig de Gracia, in the Eixample district, in the centre of Barcelona city.
Casa Batllo is definitely one of the top ten things to visit in Barcelona. The local name is "casa dels ossos", which means house of bones. Tourists guides here will quickly understand why.
It's skeleton shape, the absence of straight lines, the oral windows, the remarkable stone
work that take place here, makes you wonder the changes that a regular appartment needs.
Casa 's Batllo roof looks like a dragon's back and the inside is an excellent Gaudi's work of colour
and rooms blessed with sunlight.

PALAU GUELL
Barcelona - Antoni Gaudi 's Palau Guell
PALAU GUELL - ANTONI GAUDI

Palau Guell is one of Barcelona's best sightseeings. It is located very close to La Rambla
and it's the first step you are going to do before visiting Barri Gotic and its fabulous restaurants.
Palau Guell was designed by Gaudi and built for Eusebi Guell himself,
to be his Barcelona's town mansion, though it had to make the difference
in order to impress his high society guests.
It has its own stables in the basement which the horses could reach through a ramp.
The guests could go up the stairs guiding to...

Barcelona - Antoni Gaudi 's La Pedrera
LA PEDRERA - ANTONI GAUDI

La Pedrera is located about 200 meters from Casa Battlo, also at Passeig de Gracia, in the Eixample district, in the centre of Barcelona city. So you may enjoy them both in just three hours having a coffee brake at the many cafes nearby.

La Pedrera completed in 1912, by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi and is also known as Casa Mila, due to Pere Mila for whom and his wife Rosario Segimon the house built. La Pedrera building is now owned by Caixa Catalunya and is part of the UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE...

Barcelona is Gaudi's city,
a cosmopolitan mediterranean port, the diamond of Spain with millions of tourists every year.
To take a walk through the streets of Barcelona is a surprise in every step
with a lot of attractions all over!
Every Barcelona's tourist guide should also mention the civilized behaviour
of the professionals in most of the restaurants, bars and hotels
which are located in this magnificent Barcelona city.
Barcelona's residents (1.620.000) are polite, prompt to help, although loosing your orientation
in Barcelona is something difficult to achieve...

Eating in Barcelona:
The most economical way to get a bite to eat is to pick up goodies
in the city's food markets
(like Mercat de la Bonqueria located in La Rampla or like Fira Artesana Placa del Pi in Barri Gotic-specialized in home made cheeses and honey from the Pyrenees).

jamon iberico
JAMON IBERICO:
Comes from the fine black iberial pig which
lives primarily in the South and Southwest
parts of Spain.
There are tree types of Jamon:
The finest jamón ibérico is called
jamón ibérico de bellota.
The next grade of jamón ibérico is called
jamón ibérico de recebo.
The third type of jamón ibérico is called
jamón ibérico de pienso, or simply
jamón ibérico
.
WHERE TO BUY JAMON IBERICO / COST:
Some of our proposals are:

"Santa Caterina market
"
close to Barcelona Cathedral

"Pernils"
in Valencia & Enrique Granados Street - near Passeig de Gracia

" Boqueria Market
" or “La Mercat de la Boqueria” in the middle of the Ramblas in Barcelona- right in front of the Metro stop Liceu near the Opera house.
La Bonqueria Market is one of the largest and most famous marketplaces in Europe. Just in front of the entrance you'll find a wonderful jamón shop that specializes in the marvelous jamón iberico de bellota but remind that there are at least 15 ham vendors at the Boqueria.
The whole Bonqueria market is a fascinating place with a great chance to buy fresh fruits, vegetables, fish and seafood and many greta tapas bars. Tourists have this market on their
top to-visit list.
-> more Bonqueria Market info

"La Casa del Hamon"
C/ Jerez, 28 29400 Ronda Spain.
(not actually in Barcelona but you might find its products in the city market)
Maybe shelling the best ham and Jamon
among with chorizo iberico sausages,
spanish cheeses, wines and delicatessen.

REMEMBER THAT :
A good Jamon iberico costs approximately around 24 - 30 eur per kilo.

Notice that:
The term pata negra is also used to refer to
jamón ibérico in general and may refer
to any one of the above three types.
Jamon Iberico is very expensive and not widely available abroad.

Things to Avoid when you're visiting
a restaurant in Barcelona:
Most of the touristy terrace restaurants
line La Rmpla.Although if you get there,
and you are hungry, you should preffer
the side streets off La Rampla
with better food and more reasonable prices. In general try to avoid all the touristic places in order to eat something fresh and worth-value.
Also be awarre of some paella and tapas eateries (again around touristic areas)
cater solely to tourists, charging sky-high prices for mediocre meals.
